Whether merely curious (See Introduction) or thinking you may wish to become a Yoga teacher, this website is presented as a resource for your personal path. Basic terms, References, and Links to other sites are offered.

Yoga Comprises Many Disciplines. Western presentations of Yoga often focus only on postures (See Asana) as one might experience in a group fitness class. Sometimes a Yoga studio teacher may introduce more of Yoga's tools. All are intended to enhance the ability to experience the self with balance and genuine grace.

Western science shows that Yogic practices can aid health (see Health Benefits). Asana, diet, breath practices, and meditation all have positive impacts upon the immune system, as well as upon strength, balance, and agility.

There are various approaches to Yoga. Some stay close to the original traditions of India (see History), while others represent evolution, perhaps influenced by Western marketing ( see Schools and Styles).

It is best to begin with personal instruction from a trusted teacher. Over time, you may find that your inner "Guru" is your best teacher.

Serious study involves the ethical guidelines and ancient Yogic traditions (see Sutras and Philosophy). Do not become confused that due to parallel evolution, some Yogic practices may invoke Hindu names. Nada and Shastr can be enjoyed without a conflict in faith (see Chants and Mantras).
